Baja Surf Trip

Baja surf Trip - introduction

baja surf trip

Sometimes, rather than simply attempting to capture the "feeling" of a place, time or event in a single image it can be better to create a story board from a whole collection of images and then publish the result as a slideshow movie.

There are many software programs that facilitate this - often allowing the addition of cool transitions between each image as well as special effects, the addition of a music track and titles and subtitles.

The following movie was created by first selecting and developing photos in Adobe Lightroom and then creating the final movie using iMovie.

I feel in this instance the mood of the day is far better conveyed in this slideshow form.

I hope you agree - but please feel free to comment using the social media comments box provided below.

Baja Surf trip - the story

The slide show tells the story of an epic one day excursion in the Mexican province of Baja California Sur.

Starting out from the East Cape town of Los Barriles, three friends load up their surfboards to head across the mountains of the Baja peninsular to the Pacific coast and the surf spot "Cerritos" and then on to Todos Santos - where the "Hotel California" made famous by the lyrics of the classic Eagles song is located.

Rather than take the "easy" highway route - the guys opted to take a little used and barely known dirt road over the mountains just south of Miraflores and North of San Jose Del Cabo which took them via the Tibetan Buddist retreat of the international Dzogchen Community which is nestles way up in the mountains at Rancho Los Naranjos.

From there on the road narrows and in places is a little sketchy, with vertical drops and numerous washouts and rock falls ... but the scenery is stunning, especially the first views of the distant Pacific Ocean
